Justice Crashing Down

So simple, so delicious: dinner was the last heel of bread cut up and French-toasted, served with yogurt, maple syrup, and the last apricot jam left in the cooking pot after today’s final batch.

I’m grateful tonight as the dominoes fall for justice crashing down on the former president who tried to steal the election from American voters, and particularly in this case from the voters of Georgia. I don’t often get overtly political here, because I like to keep focused on the non-partisan quality of gratitude. And in this case, my gratitude is still non-partisan: all Americans benefit from the indictment brought today by Georgia’s Fulton County DA Fani Willis casting a wide net over 19 conspirators. I didn’t pay much attention to the brewing investigation, but I’ve been grateful all along that there are people who get paid to do this work and that it’s not my responsibility. I hadn’t even seen a picture of Fani Willis until this morning’s article in The Guardian; I was impressed (hugely) by her fierce ten-minute press conference tonight. And now, as she said at minute marker 7:03, “I will now take a very limited number of questions prior to going to sleep.” Thank you, Ms Willis. Good night, and good luck.

  1. I too am grateful for justice, and pursuers of justice, especially the indefatigable Fani Willis. Thanks for the links to her press conference and The Guardian article.
